Steve's Birthday week

well this week has been chaos in the cooking department for all of us, so if there was any place to start this blog for you two now would be the time to do it.  We had Stevie's birthday this week, plus multi-cultural day and school and a few "outings" that required food offerings.  I think all total I made: -2 batches of Jello Pudding - 2 batches of Jello - a double batch of oatmeal cookies - a batch of Chocolate chip cookies - rice krispy treats - a double batch of Banana Bread - 2 attempts at scratch Angel food cake - a half gallon of whipped cream  - and two major meal feats along with that Sabrina you ventured out on your own and made german chocolate cake - although not from scratch it was very good, and a "German apple Dessert" that I'm assuming was really good since none of it came home.   With that what did we learn this week?   - Sometimes things don't always fit into a schedule that works well for everyone,  between Steve's birthday dinner and cooking for school the next day we used the oven solidly for a total of 8 hours - and still had gone to work and school that day.   -Prep is key, I know Steve went to the store twice on Thursday (his birthday) since we didn't discuss what was needed for Sabrina and I as far as eggs and milk went. - Although our kitchen is small and mom has issues sharing, you can fit more than one person in there at a time and still get things accomplished  A few key things to remember,  - when making pies or tarts, always make sure to put a edged cookie sheet below to catch any of the spill over. - you can not use store bought egg whites to make Angel food cake - As Stevie always says, "Everything's better with bacon"
